Statement

My creative practice, during and after my degree focused on socially engaged themes; exploring collaboration, embodied learning and inclusion on large scale projects around the UK.

Involvement in a wide variety of programmes exposed me to a range of groups and constitutions, developing a sensitivity in listening to the frameworks & boundaries involved.

Four years beyond graduation I became a mother, and very shortly after; a single mother which affected every level of my being, including the ability to actively engage with large projects.
As my daughter has grown, I have been exploring the identity of artist as individual. Working alone, studio based, exhibiting at shows & galleries across Scotland.

This is not enough,
my practice is becoming isolating and unsatisfying. The need to engage with the others, to collaborate, co-operate, team-up and conspire are vital to my sense of success.

I am passionate about arts, culture and heritage believing that developing engagement in rural communities is vital to their success. Having lived rurally for the last 10 years I have a clear understanding of the challenges that remote communities can face and the need to engage with those communities to drive sustainable growth.

I am now seeking to return to project based, organic, community driven adventures.
