Cross Pollination

“When you listen to somebody else, what they say becomes a part of you, whether you like it or not.” David Bohm, Quantum Physicist.

Throughout my studies I have been preoccupied by the space between the Artist and the viewer. Who or what defines Art as Art: the Artist, the Writer, the Theorist, the Critic, the Curator, the Philosopher, the Institutions, the Market, or the viewer, audience or community?

Exploring these questions through making, dialogue and researching many Art Texts has enabled me to excavate the many differing attitudes and perspectives for making work.

If the root of artistic endeavour lies within the character and motivations of the Artist, exploring these aspects of Artistic identity have informed and evolved the processes within my own making.

I see this work as an ongoing conversation, the process based, performative and temporal aspects alludes to the open, empathic, inclusive Artistic character I wish to embody.
